Norton Family - Family Shoot

Updated: Oct 24, 2021

Golden hour family meadow shoot

This was a really special shoot to do for this family and we chose to go for a beautiful quiet meadow near Camberley in Surrey but on the border of Berkshire and Hampshire. Their little boy is one tough little cookie and the family has had to go through a lot this year. Back in May, they thought their little boy had a bad infection and fever, after one thing led to another it was soon clear their little boy was very sick after reacting badly to the medicine he'd been given and was rushed to intensive care with kidney failure. Thankfully after a few terrifying days for the family, his kidneys started to recover and their little boy was starting to fight back and he thankfully made a full recovery.

After such an ordeal, it was so special to witness this family just enjoying a happy family moment together. Everyone safe and well and their little boy back to his usual crazy self. His mum tells me that he just loves being outside and usually filthy from rolling in the mud, but hopefully he's stay clean for at least the first few photos.

Thankfully it had been very dry and we had a beautiful evening to shoot and no mud! However, it didn't take long before he had clearly got bored of the posed shots with mum and dad and just wanted to play in the long grass. To everyone's amusement, this was so exciting to him that he just kept lying face down in the grass.

This gave me a fantastic creative opportunity to photograph him in the grass playing. When I put together albums I love to include some funny photos too. Whether its a tantrum, tears or silly moment, I guarantee its the photo that will make the family smile the most in years to come even if it's not necessarily the photo you're going to put on your wall.
