Hill top golden hour maternity shoot near High Wycombe
Jitka and I connected through the magic of the Facebook group hive after posting about wanting a maternity shoot and a friend on the group connected us. They were a little further out of my usual radius and so I didn't know their area at all and Jitka & Jules had only just moved their two months before.
Although they were happy to travel, I suggested I came to their area as I remember what it was like having to travel anywhere when you due date gets closer. It was also as the petrol crisis hit and the weather and temperatures took a nose dive. We postponed one weekend become of petrol worries and it looking absolutely freezing.
In the meantime, Jitka sent me a link to a nature reserve they'd found nearby and we agreed on that as the meeting point. I decided to get their early on the day to have a scout around to see if there were any usable vantage points.
As I set off from Yateley, the weather was looking good so I was really hopeful for a golden hour shoot. It had been foggy early in the day and there was still a hint of mist around but otherwise a lovely sunny afternoon. When I arrived at the nature reserve, it was very woody and there were a few trails. My worst fear was that Jitka would have to walk for miles to get anywhere so I gave myself a 10min max target. I set off on what looked like the most popular trail and within 5min of only a slight incline (I hadn't realised how high I'd driven} I came out on what has to be one of the most stunning view points overlooking the town below. An absolutely perfect maternity shoot location and made even more special, when they realised they could see their house from where we were.
There wasn't a breath of wind in the air, which meant the fog was still lingering down below, giving the most stunning backdrop to their shoot. The sun came out and it was a really warm evening in the still golden sunlight. Both Jitka and Jules seemed so relaxed and enjoying the moment of celebrating Jitka's pregnancy and that magical moment between the worlds of parenthood.
